Metallica are set to return to play their first Irish show in a decade at Slane Castle this Saturday.

Tickets are still available to buy at €89.50 inclusive of booking fee from Ticketmaster. There are also resale tickets are also available on Viagogo for a lower price.

Directions

It is strongly advised by the concert organisers that gig-goers use public transport. If travelling by public transport allow a travel time from Dublin of at approximately 90 minutes and expect delays.

There is a bus from Dublin to Slane for €40 return. It leaves Western Way every 30 minutes between 11am to 4pm on the day of the concert.

Also, Marathon coaches are departing from Custom House Quay every half an hour from 11am to 4pm, charging €40 for return after the concert.  Bus Eireann are operating a shuttle bus from Drogheda and Navan.

Driving

The village is shut down on the day itself and an intensive traffic plan will be in operation. Access for car traffic will be via the M3 and N2.

From Dublin and the South, take the M50 to the N2 at Junction 5 and continue to the GREEN car park.

From Drogheda take the N51 to Slane & follow signs for concert parking. Concert goers from Navan & the West can also take the N51.

People with impaired mobility should arrive at from Navan via the N51 in order to avail of the designated car parks beside concert site.

Parking

No vehicle is allowed to access the concert through Slane Village on the day of the gig. It’s about a 40-minute walk from all car parks. Private coach parking must be reserved online in advance.

Support Acts

Irish alternative rock band, Fangclub will kick off proceedings. Next up Bokassa from Trondheim, Norway will be delivering theor brand of stonerpunk.

Stiff Little Fingers will rock the stage with such classics as Alternative Ulster and Suspect Device.

The final band before the Metallica take the stage is Swedish hard rock band, Ghost.

Times

The doors will open at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, queueing is not allowed before hand. The stage times are below:

3:00pm: Fangclub

4:00pm: Bokassa

5:15pm: Stiff Little Fingers

6:45pm: Ghost

8:00pm Metallica

The gig is expected to end at around 11pm that night.

Food and Drink

Gig-goers are not allowed to bring alcohol or food onto the concert grounds. But there will be lots of food stalls and bars inside the grounds.

ATMs are also located on site, however, organisers have advised all concert goers to bring cash with them

Banned Items

• Aerosols/air horns/alcohol/animals (other than registered guide or hearing dogs)/audio recorders/any item which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon
• Large Backpacks or waist packs.
• Cans/cameras with a detachable lens or recording equipment. Camping equipment/ Chinese or sky lanterns
• Food/flagpoles/fireworks and flares
• Garden furniture, deckchairs, fold up chairs or shooting sticks. Glass or Go Pro’s
• Illegal substances/iPads
•  Large umbrellas/flag poles/large chains, spiked bracelets or wallet chains/light Sabers
• Megaphones

Weather

Saturday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Dry at first but showers will spread from the west and a few may turn heavy during the afternoon and evening. Afternoon highs of 15 or 16 Celsius in moderate westerly winds.
