Passengers could be facing more travel chaos at Dublin Airport as it’s struggling to retain staff.

Almost half of the security staff that have been hired over the last year have left.

Thousands of passengers missed their flights last summer due to the lengthy queues.

Labour Transport spokesman Duncan Smith says the airport is in a difficult situation:

They are already behind on their targets. They are losing staff. There is a five plus lead in time for any new staff coming on stream. That doesn’t leave enough time for Dublin Airport Authority to have enough staff in place to meet the Saint Patrick’s Day demand and then we have the Easter demand and the summer.
