In their first interview since 2016, Super Furry Animals have revealed why they turned down the opportunity to support Oasis and U2.

The rock band also revealed why they decided to turn down the chance to perform at Glastonbury Festival on the pyramid stage. Gruff Rhys explained that they turned down the opportunity to play at the festival in 2001 as their "sound guy couldn't do it, he was on holiday in France."

They also turned down the chance to support Oasis in 1996 for their Loch Lomond shows but declined the offer as "we were below The Bootleg Beatles on the bill."

These weren't the only instances where the Welsh band turned down huge opportunities as they also revealed that they were offered the chance to open for U2 but simply couldn't as "the flat fee they offered couldn’t cover our expenses.”

The band are currently celebrating their 20th anniversary for their 2005 album 'Love Kraft', they plan to release a reissue of the album on the 24th of October. It’ll be available on double vinyl, 2CDs, including the 22-track bonus CD ‘Kiss Me With Apocalypse’, and digital formats. The band revelaed in their recent interview that all members of the band contributed to this album and that it "didn't feel forced."

The Welsh rock band are preparing for their 2026 tour, they will be kicking it off with their first show in Dublin's Olympia Theatre on May 6th. They will close their tour with two shows in London's O2 Academy Brixton on May 22nd and 23rd.
