The main suspect in the vicious stabbing attack at Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire in Dublin’s City Centre on 23rd November has woken up from a coma.

Three children and one school worker were injured in the attack, with one fiver-year-old girl remaining in a serious condition in Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Subsequent to the attack, the city centre became engulfed by violent riots.

The man is now awake and breathing without support, but is not yet fit to be interviewed by gardaí.

“There were fears that his injuries were extremely serious and it would be quite some time before gardaí would get to speak to him,” Irish Daily Star crime correspondent, Michael O’Toole said.

“Gardaí will not be able to question him immediately but the guidance I was given yesterday was perhaps by the end of this week, maybe the start of next week,” he added.

Meanwhile, the family of the five-year-old girl seriously injured in the knife attack has said that she has “shown incredible strength” and is “still here with us.”

The update was given via a GoFundMe page that was set up to support the child and her family.

The child’s mother said: “Dear all, thank you so much for the incredible gesture and kindness you have shown our family during these troubled times.

“Your thoughts, prayers and generosity have and will go a long way.

“Our little girl has shown incredible strength and still here with us.

“We don’t know yet what lies ahead as it is still early, but she is resilient and limitations will not stop her.

“Thank you so much. All the love we can give.”
