The Catholic Church is trialling cashless payments. According to the Times Ireland, a pilot scheme will get underway at 5 churches in Dublin with the hope of rolling it out nationwide.

The paper states there was a 19% decrease in the value of donations in the Archdiocese of Dublin between 2016 and 2017.

The Archdiocese of Dublin says traditional basket collections will also continue.
