The Police To Reissue 1982 ‘Around The World’ Film

‘Around The World’ which was the famous Police film from 1982 is to be reissued with new material.

Having been originally released via VHS, the film shows the Police on their first world tour. It also contains footage of band members Andy Summers, Steward Copeland and of course Sting as they explore countries like India, Egypt, Greece and Japan.

They also explore Austrailia, France, South America and the US.

It also includes live performances and behind the scenes footage.

Restored And Expanded Police Film

And now, this new film has been titled The Police: Around The World Restored And Expanded.

It promises to, “restored picture and remastered audio, as well as complete performances of four bonus songs featured in the documentary”.

This film will be presented on DVD and Blu-Ray for the first time. It will also show the band performing their classic tracks, featuring “Roxanne”, “Walking On The Moon”, “Can’t Stand Losing You” and “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”.

Previously unreleased audio from the tour will also be made available on the accompanying CD or LP.

“Like Napoleon, we wanted the world”, Andy Summers of the Police says in his liner notes.

“Out of the messy and fervent atmosphere in London at that time we conceived the idea to go all around the world and film the whole adventure. As far as we knew no rock band, at least, had ever done that. We had just about enough popularity to get booked around the globe. Plans were made”.

The latest reissue will arrive on May 20. You can pre order it here.
