Mike Campbell has shared a new album with his band The Dirty Knobs.

Titled External Combustion, the album also features Ian Hunter along with Heartbreakers bandmate Benmont Tench.

Along with the album, Campbell has shared a new lyric video “State Of Mind” featuring Margo Price. Check that out for yourselves below.

“It’s finally here”

The release of this new album was confirmed by Mike Campbell who had this to say.

“It’s finally here! Our second LP External Combustion is available here”, he said. “Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this record happen”.

Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs will also hit the road for their first headline tour. Get your hands on tickets and tour dates here.

Last week, Mike Campbell’s band were forced to postpone a gig at Tampa & Gainesville due to a positive Covid test among the touring party.

“Unfortunately a positive Covid test result arose last night in our touring party & we have to postpone the Tampa & Gainesville shows to the new dates below. All tickets for the shows this week will be valid then. We know people had made plans & we are so sorry this happened”, they wrote.

Tom Petty was of course a bandmate of Mike Campbell with the Heartbreakers.

Last December, the late Tom Petty was awarded a PHD in music from Florida University. This decision was made by the school’s board of trustees.

Petty worked as a groundskeeper there, he did not fully enrol at the university.

Having burst onto the music scene in the 1970s, Petty went on to sell more that 80 million records. His band The Heartbreakers were subsequently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

They released a string of hits, including “Free Fallin”, “Refugee” and “American Girl”. More on this report from Nova here.
