Dave Grohl has opened up about how he “walked off stage and broke down in tears” after playing Highway To Hell with AC/DC live on stage.
This happened after Grohl's band, Foo Fighters opened for the band in St Louis back in September, replacing The Pretty Reckless.
The band went on to join AC/DC for a latter date which saw them close out New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium last month, and was rescheduled from September 25 due to severe weather.
That same night saw Grohl brought out on stage by AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson to play guitar and sing the classic 1979 hit, 'Highway To Hell'.
Sharing the experience in a recent interview with New Zealand radio station The Rock, David Grohl opened up about how he was overcome with emotion following this live performance.
“It was unbelievable playing for them", Grohl said.
“It was so crazy because my wife was on the side of the stage as we played ‘Highway To Hell’. I walked off stage and I broke down in tears, sobbing like a baby,” he continued.
“I was sobbing, like wailing, and I couldn’t believe it. I was, like, ‘That is one of the most full-circle moments of my entire life,’ and I will never forget it".
Grohl added that AC/DC had “the loudest stage I have ever stood on in my entire life” and felt like “the loudest band in the world”.
The singer also shared how his love affair with AC/DC started from when he watched their film, Let There Be Rock when he was a child.
He said: “I didn’t know that that’s how you play rock and roll. I thought rock and roll was like The Beatles and KISS and things like that. I’d never seen someone so drenched in sweat that they needed an oxygen tank. I was, like, ‘That’s what I wanna be when I grow up. I wanna be that guy".
Announcing the news regarding this live show in August, Dave Grohl had described it as a "dream come true". More on this from Nova here.
Last week, Dave Grohl said he knew that he and late Foo Fighters' drummer, Taylor Hawkins would be "best friends for the rest of our lives" from the moment that he joined the band.
Hawkins joined Foo Fighters having left Alanis Morrissette's band in March 1997. More on this from Nova here.
