Osbourne had been recovering from several spinal surgeries as well as his ongoing battle with Parkinson's disease. Osbourne's family confirmed his death on Tuesday night with a group statement from Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Black Sabbath returned to the stage on the 5th of July for their final performance "Back to Beginning" charity event. This was the band's first performance together in twenty years, it was also Osbournes first full gig since 2018. Prior to the concert Black Sabbath members expressed their concerns for Osbourne's health due to his parkinson's disease. Iommi stated before the gig that he was unsure of what was going to happen and that he was worried for the unknown amidst Osbournes health struggles.
Tributes for the late rock star have been flooding in on social media as his friends and fans remember him fondly. Iommi has said that he "just can't believe it", he posted photos of the two onto X and included the caption "My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park. It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz. Tony."
Elton John posted on Instagram to express his condolences, saying that Osbourne was "a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods - a true legend." He continues to say that he was one of the "funniest people I’ve ever met" and that he will miss him dearly.

Metallica posted to Instagram a photo with Osbourne, the caption read "It’s impossible to put into words what Ozzy Osbourne has meant to Metallica. Hero, icon, pioneer, inspiration, mentor, and, most of all, friend are a few that come to mind. Ozzy and Sharon believed in us and transformed our lives and careers. He taught us how to play in the big leagues while at the same time being warm, welcoming, engaging, and all around brilliant. We are heartbroken and devastated by this loss and send our love and condolences to Sharon and their family, bandmates, and his very large circle of friends. He left an incredible legacy and will be sorely missed."

Rolling Stones musician, Ronnie Wood posted “I am so very sad to hear of the death of Ozzy Osbourne … What a lovely goodbye concert he had at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham.”
Rod Stewart wrote to Instagram, "Bye, bye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you up there – later rather than sooner." Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstong shared a photo of the two to his Instagram, he said “No words. We love you Ozzy.”
Duran Duran paid tribute to Osbourne on Instagram, they said "what can you say about Ozzy? Whatever it is, it’s in a Brummie accent. Hard to imagine a world without him, Ozzy brought so much joy, humor and raw power to the world, in a life of many chapters. Ozzy was a cat who had way more than nine lives. Thanks for the ride Ozzy, love from the other Brummies.”
English singer Yungblud shares tribute for Osbourne on social media, as he expresses how he didn't think that Osbourne would "leave so soon", he continues to say "the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room." Yungblud performed at Black Sabbath's final show in Birmingham, the two shared a bond that was captured as Yungblud gave Osbourne a cross chain, identical to the one he recieved from Osbourne years before. He shares a heartfelt message, "You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure - an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time."
Mercury studios announced the theatrical release of Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow last week. They released a statement to their Instagram stating that the "feature-length concert film will be a big-screen celebration of Ozzy Osbourne and the legacy of Black Sabbath, capturing the raw power and emotional weight of Ozzy’s final bow in his hometown of Birmingham." It is set to release early 2026.
