Victoria Mary Clarke has thanked Bruce Springsteen for his “beautiful” cover of The Pogues’ 1986 hit, ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’ in tribute to her late husband Shane MacGowan.

Last weekend, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band performed the track in tribute to MacGowan at Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park.

The Boss was performing at the venue as part of his Irish leg of his major world tour, with a video of this moving performance posted online by Aiken Promotions, which you can check out here.

Shane MacGowan passed away last November aged 65, and following his death, Springsteen paid tribute to the musician.

“Shane was one of my all-time favorite writers”, Springsteen said at the time.

Victoria Praises “absolutely incredible” Springsteen Cover

Following this, Victoria Mary Clarke posted a backstage photo of herself and Bruce, and thanked the singer for his cover of the classic Pogues hit.

“Thank you for an absolutely incredible gig  @springsteen and the most beautiful version of @ShaneMacGowan’s Rainy Night in Soho!”, she tweeted.

This moving performance by Springsteen left the crowd hugely emotional, as they praised The Boss and Shane MacGowan as two music icons, whose names will live on.

At his recent Cork Show, Bruce also brought some early Christmas cheer to his fans.

Performing at the Rebel County’s Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Thursday night (May 16), The Boss and the E Street Band performed festive hit, ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ on stage.

Springsteen launched into the song, after he picked up a sign from the crowd asking him to play the song, while also showing the amount of days until Christmas.

Earlier this month, Victoria Mary Clarke also revealed that an air rifle which was gifted to Shane MacGowan from the 1916 Easter Rising has “most likely been stolen”.
