A 30-year-old man who was described by a judge as having a “violent disposition towards women” has been handed a life sentence for murdering his girlfriend.
On April 17th last year, Gavin Murphy, of Coultry Drive, Ballymun, Dublin, stabbed Jennifer Poole seven times in her home while her young son was in her car outside.
At his sentence hearing today, the judge was told that Murphy has a previous conviction for a serious assault on a former partner.
Ms Poole was a 24-year-old mother-of-two who played GAA for her local club and worked as a carer in a nursing home.
Her brother described her as a “devoted mother” to her two young kids.
