Iron Maiden's 50th anniversary will be celebrated with a new coin made by Royal Mint. The band will join other music legends in Royal Mint's coin series, past coins have celebrated artists such as David Bowie, Elton John and Queen.

Iron Maiden are celebrating their anniversary with their very own Royal Mint coin, this coin was designed by the artist Albert ‘Akirant’ Quirantes, and it features Iron Maidens mascot Eddie at the centre of the coin. It also contains a number of easter eggs and references to their past albums and other moments from their career. Quirantes said in a statement that designing the Iron Maiden coin has been one of the "most thrilling projects of my career", "As a lifelong fan of the band, and Derek Rigg's original creations in the 80s, I wanted to capture not just their iconic imagery, but also the rebellious spirit that has defined their music for decades" he continues. Quirantes says that fans will enjoy discovering the subtle nods to classic album artwork and their most beloved songs.

Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood commented on the celebratory coin: "Having Eddie on an official UK coin is a continuation of his incredible odyssey since we unearthed him back in 1980. We’ve been on stamps, beer bottles, plane tails and now legal tender! The detail Akirant has managed to pack into the design is superb – there are little nods to virtually every chapter of our journey as a band. We’re truly honoured that The Royal Mint has chosen to commemorate 50 years of Iron Maiden in such a unique way."

Iron Maiden and Royal Mint collaborated on Instagram to share the design of the coin, accompanied with the caption "Iron Maiden take centre stage as the newest headliner to join our Music Legends Collection. For half a century, they have been bringing their trademark brand of heavy metal to adoring fans all over the world, carving out a rock legacy unlike any other."

The band are also celebrating their 50th anniversary with a monumental world tour, 'Run For Your Lives', they have specifically stated that throughout this tour they will only play songs from their first nine albums. They will be playing songs that they have not performed in numerous years, with majority of the songs played for the first time since 1999. This tour will also see Simon Dawson, their new drummer, for the first time following Nicko McBrain's retirement. He announced his retirement last year after he suffered from a minor stroke in 2023.
