Shane MacGowan has announced that he currently working on producing new music with the Irish indie band Cronin

MacGowan, who rose to fame as a member of the Irish rock band The Pogues, hasn’t released a proper studio album since his 1997 album The Crock of Gold, which he recorded with his band The Popes.

According to the singer, he has been working on an LP on and off with Cronin since 2015.

Matt Cronin, the band’s drummer, revealed that he had spent time recording music with MacGowan back in May of this year.

“Once he’s in the studio, he’s all guns blazing,” he told the New York Times.

Mick and Johnny Cronin also added that they had completed a total of 20 tracks with MacGowan, thirteen of which feature the singer’s previously unused lyrics.

In other news, Shane MacGowan is also set to released his first ever art book in April of 2022 titled The Eternal Buzz and the Crock of Gold. Reports suggest that the volume with feature never-before-seen artwork as well as handwritten lyrics.

The 64-year-old singer said that the drawings in the book are “cartoons”, drawn by him “to amuse myself”.
