An interview with Band Aid’s founder Bob Geldof was cut short yesterday after the singer wouldn’t stop cursing.

Sky News ended the interview because the Boomtown Rats frontman said the word “bollocks” twice.

Geldof appeared on the news channel to talk about and promote the new Band Aid 30 ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas? (2014)’ single. The charity song reportedly raised €1 million in the first five minutes of being released on iTunes.

Musicians such as Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Queen’s Roger Taylor, Elbow, Sinead O’Connor and Bono all feature on the single. All the money raised from sales of the track will go towards the fight against Ebola in Africa.

The singer was chatting to news reporter Jayne Secker, about some of the controversies and criticism of the charity song. He dealt with the Adele not being included issue and the point that if some of the musicians involved in the track “paid their taxes in the right way” it would help more.

Geldof kept his response short and sweet: “I think they’re talking bollocks.” He was urged not to repeat his colourful language, when asked if the single patronised Africa. He replied: “Complete and utter bollocks,” which led to Bob being muted and the interview being ended prematurely.
