Tiger Woods has announced that he will be "stepping away" from golf for the time being to "seek treatment and focus on my health"..
This comes after 15 time major champion was charged for DUI, following his involvement in a single vehicle car crash in Florida in February 2021.
This happened after he rolled his vehicle while trying to overtake another that was towing a trailer. Woods was also charged with property damage and refusing to provide a lawful test, along with his DUI charge. Find out more on this story here.
Tiger Woods entered a not guilty plea via his lawyers, demanding a jury trial.
Addressing on the matter for the first time, Tiger Woods shared this statement on X.
"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health", he said. "This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I'm committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally".

Elsewhere, PGA Tour also shared a statement in support of Woods.
"Tiger Woods is a legend of our sport whose impact extends far beyond his achievements on the course", they said. "But above all else, Tiger is a person, and our focus is on his health and well-being. Tiger continues to have our full support as he takes this important step".
