Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane has won the Ballon d'Or, becoming the first English footballer to win the coveted prize in 25 years.
England captain, Kane became the first English player to win this prize, since Michael Owen won the accolade in 2001, having scored a remarkable 73 goals last season for club and country. He received the award at a ceremony in London.
Along with Michael Owen, Harry Kane has added his name to some impressive company, alongside Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton and Kevin Keegan as English winners of the individual award from French football magazine, France Football.
In winning this award, Harry Kane finished ahead of Real Madrid and France captain Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona's World Cup winner, Lamine Yamal.
Receiving his award on stage, Harry Kane was understandably overcome with emotion.
"Wow, I'm almost speechless", Kane told the audience. "First of all, thanks again to France Football and the Ballon d'Or for this amazing event. Being in London, it is extra special; it felt like a good omen".
Kane went on to thank his current club Bayern Munich, as well as former club Tottenham Hotspur and England for helping him in his career.
"It's just the journey. For any young boy or girl who wants to achieve their dream, anything is possible", he added.
"I hope my journey, it wasn't straightforward, I didn't go straight to the top, I had to experience a lot of loan moves and fight my way to get to where I am now. I hope that can give you inspiration, and thank you very much".
Both Bayern Munich and Tottenhem paid their own tributes to Kane following his Ballon d'Or triumph.
