Former English footballer and manager, Kevin Keegan has died aged 75.
Keegan who won three First Division titles with Liverpool in the 1970s, had been diagnosed with stage four cancer, which was confirmed by his family back in January 2026.
His death was revealed by a statement from his family.
"It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75", they said. "Kevin had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments".
"A double Ballon d’Or winner, Kevin was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather".
"The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support", they added. "This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy".
Along with three First Division triumphs on Merseyside, Kevin Keegan won two UEFA Cups, the FA Cup and the European Cup in 1977.

He then went on to play for German side, Hamburg, where he won the Ballon d'Or, which was then called the European Footballer of the Year, twice.
He also played in another European Cup final in 1980, which saw them lose to British side, Nottingham Forest, managed by legendary manager, Brian Clough. He also won the Bundesliga title during his time with the German club.

Kevin Keegan also won 63 caps for England, scoring 21 goals, playing at he 1982 World Cup finals.
Keegan also had a spell with Southampton, before going onto to play for Newcastle United, where he helped the club win promotion back to the First Division.
He went onto to manage Newcastle in 1992, and led them to within touching distance of a Premier League title in 1995/1996, where they missed out to Manchester United.
After leaving Newcastle in 1997, Keegan managed Fulham, where he led the London club to the Football League Second Division title, before becoming England manager in 1999.

Following an underwhelming Euro 2000 campaign, Kevin Keegan resigned as England manager following the country's defeat to Germany at Wembley, the last match to be played at the stadium before it was rebuilt.
Keegan returned to the touchline with Manchester City, where they won promotion to the Premier League after winning the Football League Second Division title in 2002.

Following this, Keegan made an emotional return to Newcastle United in 2008, before resigning after just eight months in charge following disagreements with the board and then owner, Mike Ashley.
He went on to do some punditry work, and some occasional public appearances, but remained largely out of the public eye in recent years.
