The local community of Finglas, Dublin has been left in shock after a woman's body was found in the area yesterday.

The woman in question has been named locally as Loredana Morosanu, aged 48. Her body was found after Gardaí responded to an incident at Melville Terrace, just passed 4.30am. The scene was later preserved by the Garda Technical Bureau for a forensic examination to take place.

Earlier this morning at 11am, a man in his 40s was arrested at a different location in connection with the woman's death.

Loredana Morosanu's body was then removed from the scene to the City morgue, prior to a post mortem examination taking place.

Footage has been taken from the area, while Gardaí also conducted an extensive search through grass and bushes around the estate. They believe that Ms Morosanu died in violent circumstances.

It has been reported that Ms Morosanu, who was originally from Romania, had moved to Melville Terrace recently with another person, who had previously lived in another part of Finglas.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witness, especially anyone who were in the Melville Terrace, Dublin 11 area between midnight and 5am. They have asked anyone with information to get in touch with Finglas Garda Station on 01 666 7500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
