A viral shopping trend that has been drawing crowds across Europe is set to land in Dublin city centre, as King Colis brings its “lost packages” pop-up experience to Jervis Street Shopping Centre.

The concept, which has already proven popular in Tallaght, Cork and Limerick, will run in the capital for just over a week, offering shoppers the chance to buy unopened parcels and discover what’s inside only after purchase.

The pop-up is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 9 and will run until Sunday, May 17, 2026, taking place on the ground floor next to JD Sports in Jervis Street Shopping Centre, located at 125 Abbey Street Upper, North City, Dublin, D01 W3X5.

The idea behind the event is simple but deliberately unpredictable.

Customers are given 10 minutes to browse through a selection of undelivered packages and choose one or more items, but they are not allowed to open them before buying.

Instead, the parcels are weighed to determine the price, and only once the purchase is complete can shoppers finally reveal what they’ve picked up.

The contents can vary widely, ranging from clothes and cosmetics to household items, appliances and technology, adding to the appeal of what organisers describe as a “treasure hunt” style experience.

The format has already been rolled out in major European cities including Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and Berlin, where it has attracted significant queues and social media attention.

According to Killian Denis, CEO and co-founder of King Colis, the Irish response so far has been strong. He said: “The Lost Packages pop-ups have had huge success in Ireland with queues of people turning out to bag a mystery item. We’re very excited to be bringing the event to Dublin City, the first pop-up in Tallaght was very well received and we can't wait to bring the excitement to Dublin city center. There’s no guarantee on what you might go away with but it's always a great adventure and a lot of fun for everyone involved.”

Opening hours vary across the week, with doors open from 9:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, May 9, and 11:00am to 6:30pm on Sunday, May 10. From Monday, May 11 to Wednesday, May 13, the pop-up will operate between 9:00am and 6:30pm, while extended hours are planned for Thursday, May 14, running from 9:00am to 9:00pm. On Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16, opening hours return to 9:00am to 7:00pm, before closing out on Sunday, May 17 from 11:00am to 6:30pm.

Entry to the event is free, although organisers note that anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

For those hoping to skip potential queues, fast passes are available for €15 via the company’s website.

The initiative is also positioned as an environmentally conscious one. Each year, millions of online orders go undelivered, often due to incorrect shipping information, and are typically destroyed once refunds are issued.

Since 2023, King Colis has been purchasing these lost packages and reselling them through its platform and pop-up events, aiming to reduce waste and contribute to the circular economy.
