The Beatles have sparked speculation among fans after a mysterious countdown appeared on the band's official website.
Visitors to the site are now greeted by a countdown clock that is due to end on Wednesday at 2pm Irish time, alongside the message: "Good things come to those who Wait."
The page also features a short video showing a tree and an apple rolling through a field of long grass, while fans are encouraged to sign up to The Beatles' official mailing list with the promise that "Exciting news is coming soon."
The meaning of the apple in this video teaser is not lost on true Beatles fans. Indeed, in 1968, the band formed a multimedia corporation called Apple Corps, which featured a record label branded with a green Granny Smith apple.
So far, there has been no indication of what the announcement could be.
The last time The Beatles teased fans with a countdown was in August 2025, when they unveiled an expanded reissue of their acclaimed Anthology project. That announcement included a rerelease of the Anthology documentary series with an additional episode, a remastered edition of the Anthology music collection featuring a fourth album, and an updated version of the Anthology book.
