Two gardaí have been treated in hospital after a stolen car collided with their marked patrol vehicle in Dublin.
Gardaí had been investigating a burglary and the unauthorised taking of a car in the Santry area on Monday.
A related managed containment operation was then carried out in the Ward area of Dublin 11 shortly before midnight on Tuesday.
During the operation, the stolen vehicle collided with a marked Garda patrol car.
The occupants of the stolen car then fled the scene on foot.
Two gardaí who were in the patrol vehicle received assistance before being taken to hospital for treatment.
Both members have since been released from hospital.
A Garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána continues to provide welfare support to the members as they recuperate, and to their families.”
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
