Heartbreaking tributes have flooded in after a teenager was tragically killed in a hit and run collision in Co. Meath.
19-year-old TJ McDonnell was cycling with a friend when he was knocked down by a van in Nugentstown, Kells. The driver did not stay at the scene following the collision.
A GoFundMe page has since been set up to support the young mans family. Organisers of the page said that Tj's life was tragically cut short whilst he was out with a friend training for an Ironman. Tj was described as a "fit and driven young man."
“He was doing something he loved, working towards a goal he was passionate about, when his life was suddenly and tragically stolen. No family should have to face the loss of their child in such sudden and devastating circumstances," the organisers said.
Many people have paid tribute to the young man that was tragically killed. One mourner said: “My little daughter knew TJ from Causey Farm camps. She was very fond of him and spoke so highly of him. He was her favourite leader in the camps.”
Another said that he was “always such a friendly and kind person” who would be “deeply missed.”
Tj's football club paid tribute to him, they said they were mourning his "tragic passing" and described Tj as a huge part of their club family.
