Muse have been forced to change their social media handles in order to make way for the new AI tool from Meta.

The band have changed their X/Twitter and Instagram handles from @Muse to @Musetheband, allowing for Meta's new AI tool, Muse to take on their former surnames.

Confusion had arisen following the initial change earlier this summer, especially with fans online, given the ease at which they could find the band's social media domains over the years.

This comes after the AI assistant was rolled out in the USA earlier this week, aimed at helping users with everyday tasks, including schedule making, responding to emails, as well as converting long term goals in to plans.

Some fans were quick to point out the irony at this, considering frontman Matt Bellamy's fondness for dystopian lyrics, especially from albums, 'Drones', and 'Simulation Theory', which include references to algorithms and technology taking over.

Such lyrics can be noticed in songs like, ‘Algorithm’, the opening track from 2018’s ‘Simulation Theory’ where Bellamy sing: “Burn like a slave/Churn like a cog/We are caged in simulations/Algorithms evolve/Push us aside and render us obsolete".

One fan wrote on X, “Muse going from making dystopian rock albums warning us about the machine takeover to taking an AI buyout is top tier tragic irony".

Muse have yet to comment publicly on the matter.

News of this comes after Muse singer Matt Bellamy had filed for divorce from his wife, Elle Evans after seven years of marriage. More on this from Nova here.
