Three years after addiction claimed the life of one of our favourite friends, Matthew Perry has been thrust back into the spotlight.
The long-awaited Netflix documentary The One About Matthew Perry unpicks the late actor's struggle with substances and his heartbreaking pursuit of fame in the hopes that it would fill an emotional void
The documentary also brings intimate moments from the actor's life to light as told by his nearest and dearest, including his sister Mia, who was heavily involved in bringing the documentary to light and has shared some of her brother's most intimate memories on screen but just who is Mia Perry?
Mia is one of several of Matthew's half-siblings. His parents, Suzanne Marie Morrison and John Bennett Perry, separated when he was just a year old, and his father subsequently married Debbie Boyle.
They welcomed Mia in 1986, making her 17 years younger than her famous brother.
Unlike her brother, Mia shied away from the spotlight and instead carved out a career as a therapist.
As well as being a licensed psychotherapist, she is also a writer and public speaker. In the wake of Matthew's passing, Mia turned her attention to grief counselling.
On her website, she writes: 'After the death of her brother, Matthew Perry, in 2023, loss restructured Mia's world.
'From inside that experience, and informed by two master's degrees, years of clinical work, neuroscience, attachment theory, somatic awareness and ritual, she developed Grief Alchemy, a framework of moving through loss in a way that allows it to transform us'

Mia is married to singer-songwriter and composer David Bowick, whose music appears in the first two episodes of The One With Matthew Perry.
He also appears briefly in the documentary and said of the star: 'I've never really talked much about Matthew publicly.
'He was someone the whole world felt like they knew, but to me he was just my brother. He always started our conversations with "Hey brother." David has also lost a sibling, his sister Zoe, and said of his grief at their shared loss: 'It's a strange thing to watch the world remember someone while you're still trying to figure out how to live without the people you remember them with.'
Mia and David reportedly have two daughters, Willa and Lily.
By all accounts, Mia and Matthew had an unbreakable bond, and he wrote in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, that Mia was 'the hub of the Perry family.'
'I had five younger siblings who never turned their back on me, ever. Imagine such a love if you can,' he also wrote.
She called him her 'main confidant' and said of their relationship: 'I think we tried the best we could to really take care of each other in a lot of ways. So he was my person, and I was his person.'
