Al Porter announced through social media that he would be stepping away from his duties in Today FM on Sunday evening.

However, yesterday it was further detailed the comedian and presenter would also be stepping down from his role in pantomime ‘Polly and The Beanstalk‘.

The 24-year-old has decided to take a career break following allegations of sexual misconduct, whereby four men have come forward to reiterate their encounters with the public figure.

Nonetheless, today the Olympia Theatre have announced his replacement for the upcoming show which will see Rory Cowan take the reigns.

The 58-year-old is a regular fixture on screens due to his role in Mrs Brown’s Boys and Gogglebox and he is said to be looking forward to his new role.

“I am very happy to be joining the cast of The Olympia Theatre panto. I am a huge panto fan and treading the hallowed boards of The Olympia is a privilege for me.”

Cowan will join Dustin the Turkey, Fair City star Ryan Andrews and Scorchio’s Michaela O’Neill over the month long residency.
