Arcade Fire To Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of ‘Funeral’ Album At Malahide Castle

Arcade Fire have announced a special concert for Dublin’s Malahide Castle, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Funeral’.

The show which takes place on 7 July 2024, which will see the band perform ‘Funeral’ in its entirety, as well as tracks from across their career.

Released in 2004, ‘Funeral’ has been largely hailed as one of the best and most important album of the noughties, having been named the Number One album by Rolling Stone.

‘Funeral’ was also named Best of the Decade around the world by several other high profile media outlets.

On the night, Arcade Fire will also be joined onstage by Echo & The Bunnymen at this outdoor show, who previously supported the Rolling Stones during their European Tour in 2022. 

Tickets for Arcade Fire’s Malahide Castle show, will go on sale next Thursday (February 15) via Ticketmaster, priced at €61.05.

Arcade Fire have also partnered up with PLUS1, meaning that €1/£1 per ticket will go towards supporting organisations working for equity, dignity, and access for all Haitians.

These organisations include including www.kanpe.org  and Partners In Health, www.pih. org  and  www.plus1.org.

Will Butler Leaves Arcade Fire

One member who will not feature in the Arcade Fire line up for this show is guitarist Will Butler, who left the band in March 2022.

Despite confirming his exit, Butler still insisted that the band remain his “friends and family”.

“Hi friends— I’ve left Arcade Fire. I left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete. There was no acute reason beyond that I’ve changed—and the band has changed—over the last almost 20 years. Time for new things”, Butler tweeted at the time.
