Having returned to the touring stage following his recent health struggles, Bruce Springsteen has admitted to fearing that his days on stage were numbered.

The Boss has returned to touring, having pulled the plug on several shows in 2023 and 2024, after suffering with a peptic ulcer.

“Let me take a moment and thank my fans affected by our postponed shows for their understanding”, the singer said in a statement.

“I am deeply sorry but this belly thing, despite my ability to laugh at it, has been a monster,” the singer added. On the peptic ulcer, he said, “is still rocking my internal world”.

Springsteen was forced to cancel several tour shows last year. However, the singer returned with a live show in Phoenix last week.

Ahead of this, Springsteen shared this exciting message via Instagram, “Countdown till showtime in Phoenix”.

“Hey am I gonna sing again?”

In an interview with Sirius XM’s E Street Radio show, Bruce Springsteen detailed the pain he experienced after suffering with this peptic ulcer.

“You sing with your diaphragm. My diaphragm was hurting so badly that when I went to make the effort to sing, it was killing me, you know?”, he said. “So, I literally couldn’t sing at all, you know, and that lasted for two or three months, along with just a myriad of other painful problems”.

This issue even led Springsteen to worrying if he would able to perform live again.

“I was, during the course of it, before people told me, ‘Oh no. It’s gonna go away, and you’re gonna be OK,’ you know, you’re thinking like, ‘Hey, am I gonna sing again?’ and you know, this is one of the things I love to do the best, the most, and right now I can’t do it”, he explained.
