A fan of Carl Mullan’s joked that he must be due a discount after he was clamped yet again.
It can ruin anyone’s day, when you’re parked but you’re in a rush and forget to pay for your ticket — only to come back and see the giant yellow boot on your wheel.
While, over the years, Carl has unfortunately fallen victim to clamping — sharing the hilarious escapade to his followers — he has managed to keep his nose (and car) clean from clamping. until Friday, that is — when he got caught at a notorious clamping blackspot.

‘I stopped on the way home from work to get coffee, and forgot to pay for the parking on the car,’ Carl explained on his Instagram story. ‘It’s in Terenure, and I know it’s a f**king notorious area for getting clamped really quickly. So here’s the big reveal.’
Sure enough, Carl got got — with him sharing a photo of the boot while Careless Whisper played in the background.
Posting a selfie with the boot on his feed, Carl wrote ‘Hello, just a friendly Friday reminder to remember to pay for your parking. God bless x,’ with people wondering how many times this has happened to him now.
‘Reshare the stories from the last time you got clamped,’ Ireland’s Fittest Family host Laura Fox commented, while another wrote ‘Surely you are due a discount for being a loyalty card member?’
‘Carl do you have a subscription service to be clamped?’ another joked, while another proposed ‘time to change careers and become a clamper. If you can’t beat them join them!’
Returning to his story, Carl revealed what caused him to get clamped — with him admitting that he got distracted while bumping into a friend.
‘F**k it anyway, my own fault,’ Carl said. ‘I got distracted — I met someone I know on the way to get the coffee, and was chatting to them for 10, 15 minutes, went in to get the coffee and yeah. By the time I got back [I was clamped].’
Carl added that he believed he missed the parking warden by mere seconds, saying ‘it was such an unlucky window. Do you know the way they give you the 10 minutes grace and they put it on the thing? I say I missed your man by, like, 30 seconds.
‘Anyway, my fault. There’s no point in even saying otherwise. [The warden] was actually very nice. He came back very quickly after I paid the fine. I said “thanks a million, see you later” — and he went “no. Hopefully you won’t see me later.”‘
This isn’t the first time Carl got clamped; with him going on a hilarious rant back in November 2022 when he first got clamped.
