Green Day have released a hell raising new single ‘One Eyed Bastard’, which you can check out below.

The track which was released by the band today, is a teaser from their upcoming album ‘Saviours’. It also follows on from ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’, ‘Dilemma’, and ‘Look Ma, No Brains’.

Last October, Green Day debuted ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’ while performing at the When We Were Young Festival at Las Vegas’ 1,000 Fremont Country Club venue.

The venue also saw Billie Joe Armstrong and co perform live covers from their classic ‘Dookie’ album. See more on this from Nova here.

“bad times in life”

As opposed to previous tracks like ‘Dilemma’ which were more personal, ‘One Eyed Bastard’ appears to focus on resistance.

In the song, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong can be heard singing the lyrics, “Vendetta is a friend of mine/ Revenge is sweeter than wine/ I never asked to hear your god-damned feelings/ Get on your knees when you are kissing my ring”.

In a press release, the Green Day lead singer said, “’One Eyed Bastard’ started off as just a riff that I had – a shuffle, almost like a Black Sabbath kind of riff. Lyrically, I was just reflecting on bad times in life”.

He also added, “That’s the thing about nostalgia, sometimes you think, ‘That was an awful time’,” he added. “Everybody’s got that ugly place in their life where they have to deal with ugly thoughts – it could be like revenge or whatever. Thankfully, I have an outlet in songwriting”.

Green Day also shared a teaser for this tune via their official Instagram account. Check that out here.

Along with details on limited edition merchandise and copies of this album, Green Day added, “What can we say? We’re *full* of surprises. Got ONE more song for ya before Saviors drops in two weeks”.

Last November, the band also surprised fans with a live performance at London’s Marquis pub. More on this here.
