Fontaines D.C's Grian Chatten has spoken about creating the song 'Puppet' for the next Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man.

The spin off movie, which sees Cillian Murphy reprise his role as Tommy Shelby, as well as featuring fellow Irish actor, Barry Keoghan, will hit select cinema screens on March 6, as well as streaming on Netflix on March 20.

In a clip which was posted to social media, Grian Chatten speaks to Oscar winner Cillian Murphy about the track's creation.

Murphy can also be spotted revealing that he felt the band's music sounded like it had been written for Peaky Blinders, having attended Fontaines' intimate launch show for their 2024 album, 'Romance'.

This led to director Tom Harper contacting the band about the possibility of them putting something together for the spin off movie.

“It’s been a show all of us have been watching for a long time. We wanted to kind of do something that sounded inherently Peaky. It’s a songwriter’s dream, really", frontman Grian Chatten said.

Speaking about 'Puppet', Chatten added: “That was probably the one that was the most delicate, lyrically. The vocals are so present in the mix. Literally the wrong letter at the end of the word I felt could throw things off".

“There’s a precariousness, I think, in the verses in the music,” he continued. “It’s kind of on a knife’s edge, that’s where the tension comes from".

This comes after Cillian Murphy had said that he was a "fanboy" of Fontaines D.C.

“There’s certain music that just lends itself to Peaky Blinders … the Fontaines music seems to work, it has that outlaw quality, that dangerous quality …. they’re incredible songs, so it just clicked for us", Murphy said last week.

Praising Chatten's role in the movie, Murphy added: “We’re just thrilled that somebody like Grian is now part of the Peaky sonic landscape, and we’ve had such a storied and amazing line-up of artists over the years contributing to the show, and this was a massive step up for us to make a film".
