Cillian Murphy’s son Aran, has been cast in a new film ‘Klara and the Sun’.

The film will see Aran Murphy feature in New Zealand director Taika Waititi’s latest film, which follows an Artificial Friend (AF) called Klara, who is designed to prevent loneliness.

Klara who will be played by Jenna Ortega, is bought by a mother (Amy Adams) as a companion for her sickly, teenage daughter Josie who will be portrayed by Mia Tharia.

Aran Murphy will play the role of Rick, who is Josie’s best friend, and next door neighbour.

Klara and the Sun is an adaption of the Nobel Prize winning, dystopian sci-fi novel written by Kazuo Ishiguro, who is also serving as executive producer for this film.

The movie will also be produced by Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Garrett Basch, alongside Waititi.

It would certainly appear as if Aran Murphy is following in the footsteps of his Oscar nominated father, having previously played the title character in the play Hammet, which was written by Ben Kidd, and Bush Moukarzel.

Murphy also featured in the 2022 movie Lola, directed by Andrew Legge.
