Dublin commuters are facing major disruption over the June Bank Holiday weekend as 18 DART stations will close due to engineering works, with no services running between Dublin Connolly and Greystones from Saturday 30 May to Monday 1 June 2026.
The works will affect services across three days, with DART services only operating between Malahide and Howth and Dublin Connolly. All stations south of the city centre towards Wicklow will be closed for the duration of the works.
The closed stations include:
Tara Street
Pearse
Grand Canal Dock
Lansdowne Road
Sandymount
Sydney Parade
Booterstown
Blackrock
Seapoint
Salthill & Monkstown
Dún Laoghaire
Sandycove & Glasthule
Glenageary
Dalkey
Killiney
Shankill
Woodbrook
Bray
Greystones
Passengers travelling to or from south Dublin and Wicklow have been warned to expect major disruption and will need to use alternative transport options during the closure period. Rail replacement and alternative routes across the bus network are expected to carry additional demand.
Iarnród Éireann confirmed the works are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and maintenance across the network. In a statement, the operator said: "due to engineering works between Dublin Connolly and Bray on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May and Bank Holiday Monday 1st June the following service alterations and amendments will take place."

The scale of the disruption means knock-on effects are expected across Dublin’s wider transport system, particularly on bus and Luas corridors feeding into rail stations that will be closed.
On the bus network, Dublin Bus will operate a Sunday timetable on Monday 1 June, while Go-Ahead Ireland services will also follow a Sunday schedule. TFI Local Link services will mirror the same pattern, reducing commuter options across the greater Dublin region.
Additional disruption is expected on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 May, when a full Nitelink service will operate, but there will be no Nitelink services on Sunday 31 May, limiting late-night transport options during one of the busiest weekends of the year.
City services will also be impacted by major events. The Dublin Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon on 31 May will restrict routes across the city centre and suburbs, while the Bord Bia Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park will also lead to diversions, particularly around Parkgate Street and Heuston Station.
On the Luas, services will operate normally on Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May, but will switch to a Sunday timetable on Bank Holiday Monday, 1 June, with reduced frequency from early morning on both Red and Green lines.
On Bank Holiday Monday 1 June Luas services will run Sunday Operating Hours & Frequency.
Luas will run normal services this Saturday 30 May & Sunday 31 May.
Plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel.

Despite normal Luas operations over the weekend days, passengers are being advised to expect delays and crowding due to increased demand from events such as Bloom, Forbidden Fruit and the Mini Marathon, all taking place across the same period.
Dublin’s transport network will therefore operate under significant pressure, with rail closures on the DART combined with reduced bus schedules and event-related diversions across the city.
