David Bowie's widow Iman has shared her new 'Blackstar' tattoo to mark the 10th anniversary of the singer's death.
Last weekend marked 10 years since the music icon's death in January 2016, which broke a matter of days after he released his final album, 'Blackstar'. Bowie had passed away following an 18 month battle with cancer.
Now, Iman has shared a new tattoo on her forearm, showing off the famous artwork from the album, designed by Jonathan Barnbrook, a long time collaborator of David Bowie.
Alongside a video showing off this tattoo, Iman, who was married to Bowie from 1992 until his death, wrote on Instagram: “Jan. 10th. The pain didn’t vanish.. It left in its place a loving permanent mark. #BowieForever".
The body art shows five minimalist rune-like black shapes from the bottom of the album cover, which abstractly spell out, 'BOWIE'. Check that out here.
This comes after Iman and her David's daughter Lexi paid tribute to the late singer on January 8, to mark what would have been the late singer's 79th birthday.
Sharing an emotional post, Iman wrote: “A million feeling, A thousand thoughts A hundred memories…. YOU! Happy Heavenly Birthday".
Meanwhile, Lexi added: “Da big 79 today. Happy birthday pops, miss ya!”.
Other people to pay tribute were Tony Visconti, a long time collaborator of Bowie.
“Today is the birthday of Anthony Ferdinand Visconti, my father. It is also the birthday of my musical friend David Bowie. I’m glad I was able to introduce them to each other. I loved them both and I miss them like nobody’s business", he said.
Presenter, Matt Everitt added: presenter Matt Everitt penned this emotional message: “I couldn’t even start to describe the impact he had on almost every aspect of my life, and the incredible joy his music, style, humour and creativity have brought me over the years".
“From the 10 year old me, completely spellbound by the cover of ChangesOne, to the man making that announcement on @bbc6music on 10th January 2016, and onward for the rest of my life. Thank you".
Former Ash guitarist, Charlotte Hatherly also shared a photo from a time when Bowie toured with her band in 2003.
“Meeting my hero at 23. Forced myself to say hi and get my photo taken,” Hatherly wrote. “We talked but I walked away in a fog, not remembering a word that was said and struggling to even remember what he looked like IRL. But here we are frozen in time – thank you to whoever took this photo!”.
