David Jason “Delighted” To Discover A Daughter He Never Knew He Had

David Jason has spoken of his delight at finding out about a 52 year old daughter that he never knew he had.

It had been reported that Jason’s daughter Abi Harris was born in 1970, following her actor mother Jennifer’s relationship with the actor.

Following this discovery, David Jason who is known for his role as Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in British sitcom Only Fools and Horses, is reportedly building a relationship with Abi Harris and her 10 year old son Charlie.

David Jason already has a 22 year old daughter Sophie with his wife Gil Hinchcliffe, who he married in 2005, having met on a TV set.

The pair tied the knot on the eve of Jason’s investiture ceremony, which saw him knighted for services to acting and comedy.

Speaking to the Mirror about this amazing discovery about family that he was unaware he had, David Jason gave this reaction.

“To say it was a surprise to find out I had a daughter from years ago is an understatement”, he said. “However, on settling with the news, I am delighted that I am now able to get to know Abi and so we meet up when we can”.

The actor also added, “My wife, Gill, and daughter, Sophie, have been very supportive and understanding and have embraced Abi and welcomed her and her young son into her now-wider family”.

“We hope we are all allowed the privacy to continue our new relationship and get to know each other more and more”.

Along with his role as Del Boy, David Jason is also renowned for his starring roles as Granville in Open All Hours and Still Open All Hours, along with Detective Inspector Jack Frost in A Touch Of Frost.

Jason also starred as Pop Larkin in The Darling Buds of May alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones.

It appears that Abi Harris has followed in her parents’ footsteps. She appeared in Strange Chemistry, Doctor Who: The Eighth of March and The Avengers: The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume 7.

Last year, Only Fools and Horses star Patrick Murray revealed he had a cancerous lung removed.
