Decathlon Ireland has announced it is removing all e-scooters from sale on its Irish website as part of its commitment to customer safety and compliance with Irish legislation.

The move applies to both products sold directly by Decathlon and e-scooters listed by third-party Marketplace sellers. The retailer said the delisting process is already underway, with all e-scooters being removed from its online platform.

Decathlon is also working with its Marketplace partners to ensure all e-scooter listings are taken down and said it will continue to monitor its website to prevent any products from reappearing inadvertently.

A spokesperson for the retailer said customer safety remains its top priority.

“Customer safety is our priority. As part of our commitment to responsible retailing and compliance with Irish legislation, we have begun removing all e-scooters from sale on our Irish website, including those offered by third party Marketplace sellers. We are working closely with our Marketplace partners to ensure all listings are removed and will continue to closely monitor our platform so that any products that may inadvertently appear are removed without delay. We remain committed to providing customers with products that meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance,” the spokesperson said.

The decision follows a similar move by Smyths Toys, which has also removed e-scooters from sale in Ireland.

Meanwhile, Amazon has said it will not list electric scooters that do not comply with Irish law.
