Dire Straits have announced their guitarist Jack Sonni has died unexpectedly at the age of 68 yesterday.
The news was revealed in an online post by the veteran British rockers – which included a photo and the message “Rest In Peace“.
The popular musician proved to be a great foil for the band’s front man Mark Knopfler’s in Dire Straits 80’s heyday during the band’s Brothers in Arms era which widened their appeal.
Earlier this week, a group of musicians who formerly toured with the band announced he’d been suffering from ill health.
