US President Donald Trump has said that he is considering attending the Irish Open golf tournament later this year.
The tournament will take place at the Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg in Co Clare from September 10-13, which is expected to be attended by roughly 70,000 people.
The President spoke about this in a pre recorded video which was played during the US ambassador's 4 July party in Dublin, where he also praised the hotel and golf course.
"It's one of the best most beautiful golf courses anywhere in the world. I won't mention its name, but maybe I should actually", Trump said. "We have the Irish Open going to be there. We're going to have a tremendous celebration".
Mr Trump spoke of his excitement of going to watch players like Rory McIlroy, who will be seeking to win his seventh career major, having won his second Augusta Masters title in a row earlier this year. More on this here.
"I think I'm going to come over and I'm going to see it. We're going to watch Rory [McIlroy] and all the great players and it'll be something very, very special", Mr Trump said.
Elsewhere, Mr Trump also extended a warm greeting to Taoiseach Micheál Martin, whom he hailed as a "fantastic guy".

Previously, Mr Trump had visited the golf resort during an official trip to Ireland during his first term as US President in 2019. The property had been acquired by the Trump Organisation in 2014.
Speculation had been growing that President Trump was going to attend the Irish Open.
However, Trump International Golf Resort had said that they had not received any official confirmation that Mr Trump would be visiting for the Open.
Earlier this year, King Charles III visited the US where he met up with Mr Trump, where he mentioned a number of key topics "indispensable alliance" between the UK and the US, as well as calling on the US's continued defence of Ukraine, and the importance of NATO.
He also joked America might be "speaking French" if it were not for the British.
This drew praise from singer Rod Stewart, who hailed the King for putting "that little rat bag" Donald Trump "in his place". Stewart said this to King Charles during an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the King's Trust, formerly the Prince's Trust.
“You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little ratbag in his place", Stewart told the King. More on this from Nova here.
