A life-changing €8.7 million Lotto jackpot winner has officially made contact with the National Lottery’s prize claims team to begin the process of collecting the massive payout. The lucky ticket holder, who purchased the winning ticket in Dublin 12, became only the second Lotto jackpot winner of 2026 after scooping an incredible €8,726,418 in the draw held on May 2.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the winning ticket had been sold at Applegreen Ballymount, located on Ballymount Avenue in the M50 Business Park. The Quick Pick ticket was bought on the same day as the draw, sparking excitement among staff and customers at the busy forecourt.

National Lottery officials have now confirmed that the winner has reached out to headquarters, and arrangements are currently being organised for the collection of the prize. A spokesperson for the National Lottery said the winner had contacted the Prize Claims team and that preparations were underway for them to officially receive their multi-million euro windfall.
The news has brought huge excitement to staff at the Dublin 12 service station, with Site Director Tom Hevey describing the moment they learned they had sold the jackpot-winning ticket as a fantastic surprise. He said receiving the call from the National Lottery was an unforgettable way to start the week and that the entire team was thrilled to know one of their customers had become an overnight millionaire over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Hevey explained that the Ballymount location serves a mix of local customers, commuters and passing motorists, making it one of the busier forecourts in the area. Because of the high volume of visitors each day, there had initially been speculation that the lucky winner may not even have realised they were carrying the golden ticket.
Staff at the store have shared their delight that one of their regular or passing customers landed such a significant prize, with many wishing the winner happiness and good fortune for the future. The €8.7 million jackpot win marks one of the biggest Lotto prizes awarded in Ireland so far this year and has generated major excitement across Dublin and beyond.
