Elvis Costello will play four shows with Stevie Nieve at Dublin’s Vicar Street next year.

The duo whose musical partnership has spanned over four decades, will be coming to the venue on 27, 28, 30, September and October 1.

These shows will form part of a tour which will see the pair perform shows across the UK and Ireland next year.

Tickets go on sale on Friday December 8 at 10 am via Ticketmaster.

These shows also follow on from the pair’s recent performances at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre, which saw Costello perform tracks from his back catalogue.

Costello and Nieve also performed songs which rarely featured on stage across 22 European Cities between August and October of this year.

Their upcoming shows at Vicar Street will see Costello and Nieve perform close to 100 songs in four different programmes.

Elvis Costello v Rod Stewart

In July 2022, Elvis Costello was embroiled in a social media spat with singer Rod Stewart, having criticised the Scottish rocker over his performance at the ‘Party Of The Palace’.

This event at Buckingham Palace saw Stewart perform ‘Baby Jane’, before subsequently covering ‘Sweet Caroline’.

Reacting to the show, Costello addressed Stewart’s performance half way through his own live show in Glasgow.

“The show was good, wasn’t it? Wasn’t it? No, it was s*****”, Costello said to the audience.

He added, “I mean, I know you all love him and he’s one of yours and everything, but Rod. What the f***? I must say, listen, we all have bad nights vocally, but for f****’s sake, Sweet f*****g Caroline? Are you f*****g kidding me? I mean I’ve been in show business 45 years so I do know a thing or two. How is it that nobody suggested Rod sing ‘You Wear It Well?’”.

This led to a series of insults between the pair online, which you can check out here.
