Emergency services have been called to Finglas following reports of an explosion in the early hours of this morning.
Several concerned locals took to social media shortly after 3am on Tuesday, August 25, to report hearing a loud bang in the area of Jamestown Road.
One local claimed they could see flames and smoke coming from the direction of Jamestown Road.
They said: "Huge explosion around 03:10 in Finglas can see flames and smoke coming from Jamestown Road direction."
Another person said they heard what they described as the loudest bang coming from the direction of the M50 between Blanchardstown and Finglas.
They added: "Before that I heard a helicopter and now I hear sirens."
A third local said the noise woke them from their sleep.
They commented: "I heard it too, woke me up and gave me a proper fright."
Video footage from the area appears to show a number of emergency service vehicles responding to the incident.
The exact circumstances surrounding the reported explosion are not yet clear.
It is also not known at this stage whether anyone has been injured or what may have caused the loud bang and reports of flames and smoke.
Emergency services remain at the scene as further information is awaited.
