After a lot of speculation of who will be Foo Fighters new drummer, it has finally been revealed that Rubin will be taking Freese's place. It has also been announced that Freese will be drumming for Nine Inch Nails, taking Rubins place in the band.
Rubin has been with Nine Inch Nails since 2009, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, making him the youngest ever inductee. Rubin is also the drummer for Angels and Airwaves and has worked with Danny Elfman.
It is unclear if Rubin will join Foo Fighters as a full member or if he will be a touring member of the band. Rubin had committed to Nine Inch Nails this year and informed front man Trent Reznor last week that he has "accepted a job with another band."
Freese announced the news that he will be joining Nine Inch Nails on his Instagram with a repost of the bands Instagram story.

Freese has left Foo Fighters only two years after he joined the band following the death of Taylor Hawkins. The departure of the drummer reportedly came out of nowhere as when Freese shared the news he stated that "no reason was given," explaining that the band had said that they wanted to go in a different direction.
Freese had previously performed with Nine Inch Nails from 2005 to 2008. “Leaving Nine Inch Nails at the end of 2008 was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, my wife and I were expecting our third child, and I knew I needed to step away from life on the road to be home with my family,” Freese said.
The switch up comes just before Nine Inch Nails are set to start the North American leg of their tour.
