A member of the Gardaí has appeared in court on charges of dangerous driving and the endangerment of life.

The charges arise from a crash on the N7 in 2021 that led to the deaths of three young men, believed to be part of a mobile burglary gang.

29-year-old Dean Maguire, 26-year-old Karl Freeman and 31-year-old Graham Taylor died instantly when their BMW crashed during a high-speed car chase on the N7.

On July 7th 2021, the BMW, which was being pursued by gardai, was involved in a head-on collision with a truck on a stretch of road between Citywest and Baldonnel.

Following a GSOC investigation, Garda John Francis Ryan of Tallaght Garda Station, was charged with endangerment of life and three counts of dangerous driving.

He appeared in court today but there was no representative from the Office of the DPP, so his case was adjourned until October.

Before it was adjourned, a defence application for CCTV evidence to be handed over was granted.
