Gardaí are treating the death of a Brazilian woman in Limerick as a murder-suicide following the discovery of the body of a man suspected of killing her in Cork, RTÉ reports.
Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a 33-year-old law graduate from Brazil, was found dead in an apartment on Lower Cecil Street in Limerick on Friday morning.
It is understood that friends of Ms Pereira Rosa had been waiting outside the building for her before raising the alarm when she did not come out.
Gardaí attended the scene and discovered her body inside an upstairs apartment.
A murder investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination found evidence of foul play.
The man suspected of Ms Pereira Rosa's death is believed to have left Limerick on public transport on Friday before travelling to Cork.
His body was discovered in Cork on Saturday.
It is understood that the man was known to Ms Pereira Rosa.
Gardaí are now treating the circumstances surrounding the two deaths as a murder-suicide.
A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support Ms Pereira Rosa's family during the investigation.
Meanwhile, a fundraising campaign has been set up to help her family with the costs of bringing her remains home and arranging her funeral.
More than €25,000 has been raised so far.
Ms Pereira Rosa had been working for a cleaning company in Limerick, with her employer understood to be covering the cost of repatriating her remains to São Paulo in Brazil.
The money raised through the campaign will go towards the costs of a wake and funeral in her hometown of Sorocaba.
There have been a number of tributes to Ms Pereira Rosa, who was described as a well-liked member of the Brazilian community in Limerick.
Friends and members of the community have remembered her as a kind and bubbly person.
The Garda investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is continuing.
