Hozier has had his say on a Homer Simpson cover of his hit ‘Take Me To Church’, and the use of AI in music.

The Irish singer who recently bagged his maiden number one in the Irish singles chart with ‘Too Sweet’, opened up about AI’s impact, and its use for “silly” and “harmless” things.

Hozier also spoke about bigger concerns that it may have when it comes to original music, as well as being asked if he has heard his voice being used by AI to cover other random songs.

“I haven’t heard my voice being used on other stuff. I think I’ve heard maybe ‘Take Me To Church’ as my voice as maybe Homer Simpson or something like that”, the singer said.

The AI cover of Homer Simpson singing ‘Take Me To Church’, shows the character’s trademark deep voice singing the track. You can check it out below.

On the use of AI, Hozier also added, “I think that stuff is the more sort of silly, harmless stuff. It is kinda weird, yeah. I think it’s just fun. I think it’s just people playing with the technology for stuff like that. The more complex, long-term stuff of AI when music catalogues are being trained for generative stuff is where we’re in the bigger questions…”.

As mentioned, Hozier also reached number one in the Irish single chart with ‘Too Sweet’. This marks a first number one in that chart for the singer.

The track also features on Hozier’s EP, Unheard. It also includes singles ‘Empire Now’, ‘Fare Well’, and ‘Wildflower and Barley’.

Too Sweet also also certified Platinum in Ireland, with 1.3 million streams to date.
