Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Judi Dench are set to reunite on screen for a brand new Sky Arts special, promising an intimate and warmly candid conversation between two of Britain’s most celebrated acting legends.

The upcoming programme sees Dame Judi Dench welcome her longtime friend and fellow national treasure Sir Ian McKellen to her home in Surrey, where the pair will sit down for tea and reflect on their extraordinary lives and careers.
The special is a follow-up to last year’s well-received episode of Tea With Judi Dench, which featured Sir Kenneth Branagh and saw the Oscar-winning actress hosting a relaxed and deeply personal conversation about theatre, fame and loss.
This new edition continues that format, with McKellen, known worldwide for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and X-Men, joining Dench for what is described as a frank and wide-ranging discussion.
Topics covered include Shakespeare, stage fright, insecurity in acting, and the global impact of blockbuster franchises such as James Bond and The Lord of the Rings.

Speaking about the new episode, Dame Judi Dench, 91, said she was delighted to continue the series with a close friend.
"I am absolutely delighted to be returning for a second film, and even more pleased to be sharing the experience with the wonderful Sir Ian McKellen."
She added: "The response to the first film was deeply touching, and it’s a great privilege to continue these conversations and capture moments of great friendship."
According to the programme synopsis, the conversation will also touch on more personal reflections from McKellen, including his experience of coming out publicly and his involvement in campaigning against Section 28.

The actor is also expected to speak about one of his personal regrets — not being open about his sexuality with his parents.
The series continues the gentle, reflective tone that made the original episode such a success with viewers, who praised its warmth, humour and emotional honesty.
