Jarvis Cocker has hinted that new music from Pulp could be on the horizon.
This comes after the band released their latest album, 'More' over the Summer, their first full length record in 24 years, and their first since the death of their bassist Steve Mackay in 2023.
In a recent interview, Pulp have hinted that new music could be on the way, as they reflected on the positive response they have received to their recent LP, adding that they may start writing new songs when they finish their tour dates next year.
Regarding their plans for next year, drummer Nick Banks remained coy when speaking to Uncut.
“We are playing some concerts in 2026, so the first half of next year is mapped out but that’s about it", he said. “Looking too far ahead probably Isn’t good for your mental health. I had been looking forward to retirement, but it looks like I’ve had to delay that a bit".
Banks' comments were echoed by frontman Jarvis Cocker, but he did tease that new music could be a possibility.
“We have a few months off at the start of the year and I am going to think about it then,” he said. “Everybody’s enjoyed it as far as I can tell, so we might write some more songs, who knows?".
The pair had earlier spoken about their anticipation of seeing what their fans thought of 'More'.
“You don’t know until you do something whether people are interested or they will just say, ‘Oh, that’s nice,’ and turn over the page,” Cocker stated.
“‘More’ was finished by January and the single ‘Spike Island’ had gone down well, so I had hopes… but didn’t expect it to be a Number One album. I was very happy".
Elsewhere, Jarvis Cocker also admitted that he had to overcome certain barriers when it came to going back into the studio again, revealing that the last album took "ages" to put together as he kept changing his mind.
“[The band] didn’t want to go through that again at this stage of their lives. I get that. So during the process of thinking about making another record I had to think why I wanted to do it. The answer I got was that music is my main pleasure in life", he said.
Jarvis Cocker had previously spoken about the creative freedom in making music back in July. More on this from Nova here.
