Gardai in Newbridge launch appeal into ongoing murder investigation, Kildare Gardai Renew Appeal For Info After Death Of Elderly Man

Gardai investigating the murder of a pensioner in Kildare eight years ago are urging anyone with information to come forward.

81 year old Michael Crowe died after he was unable to escape an arson attack on his house in Newbridge on October 4th 2009.

Gardai are looking to identify three men in particular.

The pensioner was unable to escape after a fire broke out at his home at Pairc Mhuire, Newbridge, Co. Kildare on the 4th October, 2009.

Other members of his family who were in the house at the time were able to escape, but Michael died as a result of injuries he sustained.

Garda Inspector Mel Smyth says they have taken hundreds of statements and carried out hundreds of separate lines of inquiry.

Someone out there knows what happened. The smallest bit of information might help and I’m asking that person to come forward and let us know. Over seven hundred statements were taken. Those statements, each statement would lead up into different lines of inquiry or jobs as we would describe it. There was one thing in particular. There was three men seen at different times during the night by two different witnesses and those men were never identified despite all the efforts and the work.
