Last night at the Blues Kitchen in Camden, North London The Libertines played a surprise gig. After they were drinking at the local Irish pub The Dublin Castle, they decided to play an impromptu set at the small venue around the corner.
Despite the show not being confirmed through any official channels, word-of-mouth saw hundreds of fans ram into the 265-capacity venue, with many left on the street as the band took to the stage shortly after 10pm.
The Libertines were having a few drinks at the Irish pub when Pete Doherty got up on stage to sing 'Albion'. They decided to up scale and walked from The Dublin Castle to the nearby Blues Kitchen venue, alongside bassist John Hassall, drummer Gary Powell and most of the Dublin Castle clientele.
The Libertines played a total of 28 songs at the intimate venue with fans shouting out requests for the band to play. As well as playing plenty of originals they also played a boat load of covers including The Strokes, The Clash and The Stone Roses to name a few.
All fours members of the band got chances to crowdsurf during the gig with lead singer Caral Barat saying his dream was to "crowdsurf from the stage to the bar". Needless to say those in the crowd got some footage of the gig, you can check out some of the videos here
