Liam Gallagher has confirmed he is being lined up for the second series of Celebrity Traitors, sending fans into a frenzy after casually revealing that BBC bosses have already approached him about taking part.
The Oasis frontman made the admission on social media, responding directly to a fan on X, formerly Twitter, ahead of the show’s highly anticipated return to screens later this year. While no official casting has yet been announced by the BBC, Gallagher’s response has immediately fuelled speculation that he could be one of the headline names in the upcoming celebrity edition.
One fan asked the singer directly: “Liam would you go on The Traitors if they asked?” — to which he replied simply: “I've been asked.”
The brief exchange was enough to ignite excitement among viewers, with many urging the Manchester-born rocker to accept the offer. One fan replied: “You'd bring so many viewers!” while another wrote: “WELL DO IT. What's holding you back, don't be boring.” A third echoed the sentiment, adding: “Omg, you got to do it.”
Celebrity Traitors debuted on the BBC last year as a star-studded spin-off of the hugely successful original series, which is filmed in the Scottish Highlands and sees contestants divided into “Faithfuls” and secret “Traitors” competing for a large cash prize. The celebrity version proved an instant hit, with nearly 12 million viewers tuning in for the tense finale — a figure that cemented the format as one of the broadcaster’s biggest entertainment successes in recent years.
The prospect of Liam Gallagher joining the cast has particularly excited fans, given his outspoken personality, unpredictability and long-standing reputation for saying exactly what he thinks. Known as much for his sharp tongue and quick wit as for his music, Gallagher has spent decades as one of Britain and Ireland’s most talked-about rock stars.
Rising to fame in the mid-1990s as the lead singer of Oasis, alongside his brother Noel Gallagher, Liam became synonymous with the Britpop era through anthems such as Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, and Champagne Supernova. While the band famously split in 2009 following years of public feuding between the brothers, Liam has since enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing multiple chart-topping albums and selling out arenas across Ireland and the UK.
In recent years, Gallagher has also become a regular presence on social media, where his candid posts and off-the-cuff responses frequently make headlines. His apparent nonchalance about being approached for Celebrity Traitors is very much in keeping with that public persona — offering just enough confirmation to stir excitement without giving anything else away.
From a casting perspective, Gallagher would mark a major coup for the BBC. Celebrity editions of reality shows often hinge on personalities capable of driving conversation beyond the programme itself, and few British musicians generate as much constant public interest as Liam. His presence would almost certainly attract viewers who might not otherwise tune in, while also injecting the series with an unpredictable edge.
Whether Gallagher would thrive as a Traitor or struggle to keep secrets remains a subject of debate among fans. His blunt honesty could make deception difficult — but equally, his confidence and charisma might allow him to dominate the psychological gameplay that defines the series.
At present, it remains unclear whether Gallagher will ultimately sign on for the show. The BBC has yet to confirm any names for the second celebrity series, and Gallagher himself has not elaborated beyond his brief admission.
