When Dylan last played Dublin on his 'Rough and Rowdy Ways' tour, at the 3Arena in November 2022, he spoke to the audience only once , to send a message to Shane MacGowan, calling him “one of our favourite artists, we hope he makes another record soon,” Dylan said. That was just over a year before MacGowan died at the age of 65. He added that Fairytale of New York is a song close to their hearts and one they listen to every Christmas.
Concert attendee, Pat Carty, wrote in The Irish Examiner, that Dylan "finished with a rousing, respectful, and melodically perfect cover of The Pogues’ A Rainy Night In Soho. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house". Some other attendee's posted their thoughts on the gig to Reddit. One fan described it as "such an amazing performance. The way he stood up and played piano for the instrumental outro - and then put his hand on his heart. I’ll never forget it". Another fan said, "fantastic gig. My favourite track off Rough and Rowdy Ways was My Own Version of You, and I was absolutely blown away when he performed it, the new arrangement he did was amazing!! I also welled up when he played It Ain’t Me Babe at the beginning (I have no idea why lol). I’m an obsessive Dylan fan, but it was the very first time I’ve seen him perform live. I am absolutely delighted, what an incredible experience!".
